Enterprise at Herts

The new Enterprise Hub building on de Havilland campus, which has been part-funded by the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, significantly enhances and expands the existing support provided at Herts for businesses in the region and beyond, regardless of their size or industry. This, coupled with our status as a University Enterprise Zone, reinforces an entrepreneurial vision that runs through everything that we do.

Every corner of the University is open to support businesses both big and small, locally and nationally, together with our talented students and graduates that are looking to start their own business. We support businesses in many ways, such as:

All campus business incubator
Our campuses are open for early stage businesses and entrepreneurs to use as and when it suits their needs, alongside access to our academic experts, talented graduates, facilities and equipment. A designated modern and fully equipped co-working space for business incubator members has opened in the Enterprise Hub, which is available for businesses to use flexibly.
Funded research and development opportunities
Funded research and development opportunities such as Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are available at Herts, which help businesses solve strategic challenges and create new products.
Workforce development
Our highly regarded workforce development opportunities such as degree apprenticeships, graduate placements and professional development courses empower businesses to grow a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. The Enterprise Hub provides additional teaching space for the University’s MBA and expanding degree apprenticeship offering.
Student and graduate enterprise support
Advice sessions, events, entrepreneurial societies, enterprise competitions and funding opportunities are available for our students and graduates who are interested in starting their own business.
Free business mentoring through the pandemic
We launched the Volunteer Business Support Scheme, in partnership with Hertfordshire Growth Hub and Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, to support micro to medium-sized enterprises in Herts that are struggling as a result of the pandemic. Our network of mentors, who are highly experienced in managing or coaching at a strategic level, provide support and point businesses in the right direction of finance and support packages available in Hertfordshire.
