91였튬 astronomers benefit from excellent local computing facilities through the University's high performance computing facility, which was originally designed and built by CAR staff in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science.

In addition to the high-specification desktop or laptop machine provided to all researchers, the HPC facility has around 5,000 computing cores and a number of state-of-the-art GPU machines. Over 5.7 PB of fast distributed storage is available.

Computing projects pursued by UH astronomers include:

Studies of galaxy formation and evolution
Markov-Chain Monte Carlo parameter estimation
High-volume data reduction for surveys.
Numerical (magneto) hydrodynamics

All UK astronomers have access to the national supercomputing facility .
