Capabilities

The Microfluidics and Microengineering Group was created in 1991 to take advantage of microfluidic control and scaling effects by applying engineering principles to microfluidic systems.

Microfluidic opportunities

Microfluidics afford unique opportunities to create, manipulate and analyse chemical and biological fluids. The Microfluidics and Microengineering Group conducts research in areas including control elements such as micropumps and micromixers as well as development of specific devices and systems for chemical and biological applications.

We pride ourselves on our forward-thinking applied research capabilities and strengths. We have a dedicated multi-disciplinary vertically-integrated research team who are equally at home conducting academic and commercial research projects.

Polymer microengineering

We have clean room and laboratory facilities equipped for microfluidics, microengineering, BioMEMs and system integration applications employing polymer microfabrication and rapid prototyping processes.
