Dr Pushp Raj Tiwari

By 2050 global temperatures will increase by 2-3° and we’ll experience more frequent and intense extreme weather events, such as cyclones, heat waves and hurricanes.

Forecasting extreme weather events to help communities prepare

Raj develops climate models that help to understand and predict the impact of climate change on different sectors, such as energy, agriculture, water and health. His latest research shows that we’ll experience more intense and frequent climate extremes, which will impact on our lives here in the UK as well as globally. His work enables governments, authorities, and organisations to plan for future climate change and become better prepared.

His studies span developing approaches to climate change modelling to reduce the uncertainties associated with predicting climate extremes, to understanding how climate change will affect renewable energy resources, crops, water, and human health over Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Partnering with Herts

Raj’s work is part of the 91看片’s Centre for Climate Change Research (3CR). The centre brings together over 50 academic and research staff from all our Schools of Study to research one of the most urgent global issues affecting society.

The Centre for Climate Change Research collaborates with national and local government organisations, industry, research institutions and other universities here in the UK and internationally.
