Getting the most out of your Applicant Day

Your Applicant Day is the perfect opportunity to see what your next few years could be like at Herts. You'll get to look around, try out your course and meet your tutors. Through these experiences, you'll get to feel the vibe on campus and see that Herts is the place for you.

We've designed your Applicant Day to make sure you get to spend quality time with the right people, in the right places on campus to give you a real day-in-the-life experience.

How to experience the vibe on campus

Talk to other applicants
They are your future uni friends and flatmates. It can seem a little daunting but everyone at the Applicant Day is in the same situation. Put yourself out there, introduce yourself and start some conversations.
Not sure where to start? Just say hello!
Why not meet them on your Unibuddy Community first and arrange to meet up on the day?
Talk to current students
Our current students are future you! They have been through the application process and are now experiencing Herts. Make the most of your time with them and ask them anything. Here's a few ideas for you:
- What is your usual day like?
- Where is your favourite place on campus?
- Have you done a placement or internship?
- What societies and clubs would you recommend?
- Do you go to any events on campus?
Explore the campus
Go beyond your subject sessions. It's important to see your subject facilities but think about where else you will be spending time. Look at social spaces on campus, visit the library and cafes. Take a look at the gym and take a stroll around the outside spaces.
Ask questions
It's what today is all about. Be inquisitive!
Explore the local area
Make the most of your trip to us and take some time to explore the local area after the event.
The Galleria is really close by, with shops, restaurants (Nandos, anyone?) and a cinema.
St Albans is a great city, full of shops, bars and restaurants.
You could even just look at the distance to local supermarkets and other facilities to see how easy it would be to live on campus.
Be prepared
Do a bit of research before you attend. Take a look at our social channels to find areas you might like to visit in person. Think about some questions you want to ask while you are with our tutors.

The day overall was lovely, it was the first and only university that I've visited that has given a real sense of community. It is a space that is more than just educational; it is social too. Everyone is welcome and is made to feel safe. Thank you so much!
