Over half of the research undertaken in the School of Creative Arts is ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. The rest is ‘internationally recognised’ or ‘recognised nationally’, according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF, 2014).

We offer one of the most diverse ranges of Research Degree programmes in the UK and beyond. Our staff and research students work in a wide range of disciplines in the creative arts, including fine and applied arts, art therapy, film, television and games design, art and design history, music composition and media studies. Our students contribute to their disciplines at the very highest level.
