Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a well-recognised and evidence-based talking therapy used to manage various mental health conditions. It was developed from accumulated knowledge gained within psychology, particularly in cognitive psychology, and incorporates techniques from different psychotherapies. As a result, cognitive behavioural therapy is considered to be the most evidence-based therapy available today. The National Institute Centre for Excellence (NICE) acknowledges it as the best talking therapy for treating conditions like depression and anxiety disorders.

The aim of the course is to develop cognitive behavioural therapists who are scientific practitioners. You will train to become a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist which is a highly regarded and recognised form of psychological therapy.

What will I do when I graduate?

When you complete your PgDip, you will be a fully qualified cognitive behavioural therapist recognised by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP).

This will enable you to practice as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in health services or other organisations providing well-being services as a therapist.
