Pharmacy, Optometry and Dietetics

Pharmaceutical scientists play a vital role in the development of new medicines, from discovery chemistry, through to formulation development, manufacturing and clinical testing, and post marketing pharmacovigilance.

We have developed our Pharmaceutical Science programme in collaboration with a range of local and national companies, from small biotech companies to multinational pharmaceutical giants.

Our connections with these major companies ensure this course is relevant and continues to meet the needs of today's graduates. In addition, these links will provide you with unique opportunities to gain valuable experience during your placement year and utilise the knowledge of the best visiting lecturers from the pharmaceutical industry.

Our emphasis is on developing professional attitudes together with a broad appreciation of different healthcare roles.

Students are actively supported by our academic staff, many of whom are leading professionals in the fields of pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical chemistry. Several are practicing pharmacists, others have first-hand experience of teaching hospital and community pharmacy.

Studying the Pharmaceutical Science degree at the 91였튬 will allow you to understand the fundamental underpinning sciences of biochemistry, chemistry, biology, and pharmacology.

Courses are designed to encourage you to build specialist knowledge in drug design, formulation development and clinical testing, while equipping you with the essential skills employers want to see in their graduate employees.
